Mapping Mega Miles Through Maine

Yesterday morning began in York, ME. haha... Sounds more like an invitation than a city. It's like an old sea town... With all the colonial architecture, twisty turnny roads and killer gardens, it of reminded me of Bucks County if it was by the ocean instead of the Delaware River.

On the drive out if town, I saw some re-enactors re-enacting.. getting set up for York Days where the whole town time warps to the late 1700's. 2 women and a man were dressed in colonial era garb and working a loom on the lawn of a big, old building. I didn't get my camera out in time for a photo... :(

The route was initially to follow the coast directly, but there were so many quaint tourist towns where traffic backed up for miles due to pedestrians in the crosswalk, the route changed to the most direct route 295->95->3 ... and boy did it get COLD I thought the thermometer on the bike was broken because it was always on about 100 degrees for the whole trip, but it suddenly was at about 55 degrees. Try doing that at 50-70 mph. Glad I had my windproof fleece... I think I had some mild hypothermia.

Made it to Bar Harbor by 10p-ish last nite.. just woke up and now going to forage for breakfast and head out to Acadia national park... nice!

Cheers, mates!

Music, Marching & Making Friends

Wow! Chicago! How much fun did I have?!?!

It really could not have been a more perfect weekend. The weather was terrific- we walked around the city and spent a few hours checking out some of the scene down town around Millenium Park, watched the water spray out of the Crown Fountain, walked around Halsted, Hubbard and a few streets in between. Found out the 7-11 has incredible sandwiches and the Marriott lobby was a delightful respite in which to snack and refill our water wine...

The food and music at The Taste of Chicago was great! After the Pride parade, Jules and I went back to the Taste, got some food and fell asleep in the shade of a tree in the park while music was playing around at the event.

The parade was one of the funnest days of my life. Talk about a roadside dance party! Lord have mercy! The floats were unbelievable and the costumes were so creative. I think Jules said Gay Day is her new favorite holiday.. I will have to agree...

Head over to the facebook page to see some more pictures from this weekend's mini-trip. More will be posted soonly!

it's official...

Finished packing and about to take a shower before heading to the airport... Normally sleep is involved somewhere on between, however, I don't remember seeing "normal" ANYWHERE in my hand book on this particular life...

With some of my famous chicken in my belly and a slight sleep deprivation, I'll be mid-west in 6 hours. I hope I remember to take out the trash...
